Does anyone know the growth rate for a musky in a body of water like Pineview? I'm just kind of curious as to how big the Musky fingerlings that were released last year are. What are we looking at right now? A foot? A foot and a half? Two feet?!?!?
If anyone has any info that would be cool, I'm just kind of curious. I've googled "tiger musky growth rate" and I just get articles with the general information about them and how they have a faster initial growth rate but don't necessarily grow any bigger than a true musky.
Maybe the guy from the DWR that posts on here can chime in?

I attached a picture of a tiger musky from Joes Valley that was stocked last year as a 2 inch fish and was 15 inches in early May. There have been somewhat credible reports of 24 inch tiger musky being caught by trout anglers in Joes Valley. I would imagine last years stocked tiger musky will make 24 inches or so by the end of September.

Thanks man, I've always been kind of curious as to what they look like when they're in between the fingerling stage that we see in the videos of them being stocked and the monsters that get caught, photographed, and posted up here.
The smallest I've ever seen in person was a 28"-30"(didn't have a measuring tape on me) I caught a couple years ago fishing for crappie.

Have any Tiger Muskies been planted in Pineview this year? Also will the number of tigers planted in Pineview each year be increased once Utah is raising their own fish?

We should be getting some fingerlings in the last week in July.
I think the tiger musky quota in Pineview is exactly where it needs to be in order to produce trophy fish and maintain a great pan fishery.

The plan is to start annual fingerling stocking of tiger musky when we start producing our own tiger musky. When this happens the catch and release on Newton and Pineview will most likely return to the standard statewide tiger musky limit of one fish over 40 inches.

Thanks for the tiger muskie update. I personally would like to see all tiger muskies released and none kept regardless of size. Most people have no idea what the cost is to do a skin mount and the fish ends up in the trash. I haven't heard of anyone that says they are good to eat.

I've wondered about the credibility of their edibility
Seen some recipes for Pike Stew where the fillets are cut into square chunks. Don't know how different Muskie meat would be from Pike meat - pretty similar fish-beasts.
There was a good discussion going about Fish Taxidermy - comparing skin mounts to plastic casts. This article was especially informative.

Did see some muskie at Newton that were maybe 12-14 inches. Must have been some of last year's fingerlings.
So where do you launch at Pineview? Looks like there's two harbors toward the Eden side along the west, but are they private? I gather the campground at the south-east by Huntville side has a launch?
Pineview is one I haven't tried, but want to. Nice variety of species listed. But it's a big body, and I've got a small boat. Anyone have any tips of what locations to hit?
