Deer Creek yesterday
#1
Tool our boat out for the first time this year after having some work done on it. Just kind of a test run for this weekend. On the water about 9:45 am. Circled the island without marking any fish. Thought that was kind of strange. went to tne north end where the river comes in. 12' of water, very "weedy", marked fish all over the screen. Tried lots of baits on feathered, and tube jigs with no bites at all. Power bait, worms nothing. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter using her "Dora explorer" pole with a worm on a crappie jig 3' under the surface caught the only fish of the day, an 8" perch. The wind picked up big time, so we headed for the Wallsburg arm, nice and calm went down the west side going in , and trolled the east side coming out. Marked onyl a few fish the whole time. Not sure where they are at, but we are headed up with the family on Sunday to try again.
