I had the opportunity to go fish Fish Lake with Pikeman and his son. For those of you who haven't had the chance to meet Pikeman or fish with him, or his son THE BOMB[cool] your missin out. Pikeman is a wonderful host and if you need a boat hand his son Benny is as good as they get. What a tough kid! This boy yanked that 20lbs anchor from 50 feet like its nothin. Not just a couple of times either. Over and over. I can easily say this has been one of my more enjoyable fishing trips ever.
The fishing wasn't red hot. Besides the perch[mad] Which are very tasty I might add. As if you guys havent heard me say that before.[sly] I left at 11:30 pm thursday night to arrive at fish lake at 3 am. I had to drive real slow the last 45 miles because there were so many darn deer. I crashed in my car till I saw pikeman and the bomb staring through my window at around 6:30 or 7 am just short of the bowery marina.
We got out to fish around 8 am. Pikeman picked a spot and we got started. I ended up with a 10" to 12" splake and a 4 lb mack pup. Both were a first for me.[]As well as fish lake. We tried several times throughout the day with no avail. We did get plenty of perch though to cook up with pikemans famous fish recipe. Damn that stuff is good[sly].
Saturday morning was a little more productive. Although I only got one splake. Pikeman picked up a really nice 3 lb or better splake and another smaller one. The Bomb picked up a small splake and the fish of the weekend. It was a pretty nice mack. 5 lbs or better. Nice and fat and about 20 inches, I think.[unsure] I also had a buddy that pikeman was gracious enough to invite on the boat that caught a couple small splake. Hopefully he shows better boat ettiquette in the future![mad] All in all I thouroughly enjoyed myself, not to mention I learned a ton. The biggest thing I learned though is, if Pikeman invites you on his boat and you dont go your a real dummy.
THANKS AGAIN PIKEMAN AND THE BOMB FOR A MEMORABLE TRIP TO FISH LAKE.
