North Fork of the Provo
#1
I am headed up tomorrow evening for a few hours and was looking for info on patterns that may work up there. I wonder if I should use patterns similar to what I would use on higher Uinta streams or patterns that may work better on lower streams. If you don't want to post feel free to p.m. me. Thanks for any info.

Kochanut are you sure it was almost bonedry or you were on the North Fork of the Provo? I was on it Saturday and drove past it Sunday as well. It's flowing the highest I've ever seen for July. Nice and clear and fine for fishing, just higher than normal. Those fish aren't picky- any dry or nymph of about any size works. Not too early to at least try hoppers and ants.

Yeah, you sound like you were higher up. The north fork us just a short way up from the ranger station. I figured I would be ok with renegades or ant patterns. I am headed up now so we will see I guess.

I think you where fishing a gully about to go dry[Wink]. Nothing like setting the hook and launching those little brookies into orbit. You should try the North Fork sometime if you want whopper 6-8 inch brookies that only end up in the forest when you try to set the hook with a 2 weight rod. After the first 10 minutes and sending several dozens of those fish flying I usually switch to a big hopper as I tire of retrieving all those darn little brookies.
