Willard Today
#1
Launched about 6:30 from north marina. lake was smooth as glass, what a great morning to be on the water. Started trolling a little north of freeway bay and about 20 min in caught a wiper on a diving shad, my first for the year. trolled freeway for a hour or so longer with no luck so trolled along south dike towards feedlot. just west of feedlot got a cat on the diving shad. first time for me to catch a cat on a shad rap. put on a firetiger kicktail and downrigger to ten feet and had a couple more good hits but lost em, then got another cat on the kicktail. that was the last hits for me today. there was four or five more boats in the area but dont know how they did. Its amazing how hard them wipers hit and run, what a blast!

After reading your report, I decided Freeway bay was the place to start when I hit Willard yesterday. We fished that area for nearly four hours before we decided to move and only had one eye to show for our effort. How was the bugs for you on Friday? They were the worst I have seen this year but what would fishing be a Willard without the bugs...... BETTER[Wink]. We managed one wiper toward the end of our morning trip and you are so right about wipers hitting hard and being a blast to catch, nothing around here compares to a good sized wiper's fight.[Smile]
