Blacktail is the southern end of Ririe Resivoir. It's directly east of Idaho Falls. I quite like it there, we had a few small bass, trout and perch when we fished on the dock beside the boat ramp casting towards the rocks.
Next time we are taking the boat, we have a shad rapala and several sizes of perch to try fishing for some bigger bass.

those are some nice sized perch. i bet the kids had a great time. I'm supposed to go to Ririe this weekend with some friends to wakeboard. maybe I'll throw in a couple of poles and sit on one of the docks with the kids. they would like that more anyway i think. thanks for the post and the pictures.

Boy those are some great perch. I wish that end of the res. was open for ice fishing. There are a few pockets of perch on the Juniper side, but just not as many.

Why is it not open for ice fishing? I don't understand. Is the season closed on that end of the res?

because fish and game keeps it closed to protect wintering big game from snow machines and general human traffic.
