Lost Creek Pink Ladies
#1
So we hit lost creek early Sat morning and started knocking them dead from the get-go. First fish came trolling away from the launch ramp on a red/white dare-devil behind a yellow dodger. They were down deep again. We were using 7 oz lead back 150" to get down to the 30-35' were they were hitting at. We trolled down past the dam and all the way into the back and hooked up all morning. Most were caught on black and silver and rainbow broke backs.
Downrigger worked like a charm and was producing at 30 ft. once I figured how to set it lightly for the smaller fish.
Biggest fish was just under 15". All were cutthroats with nice pink flesh.

Nice detailed report RM, thanks for sharing. Were there many boats on the lake? Did you use a dodgers in front of the broke back lures?

Not too many boats, one that had his throttle barried though. I wish they would post the wakeless better.
Yes I've been running small dodgers in front of all my gear trolling for trout this year.
Funny how one day we catch bows and another cuts. I saw they planted tigers in lost creek but haven't hooked into one yet.

Thanks for the info. I haven't used a red and white Dare Devil in years, did you just catch the one fish on it or were there more caught? In my experience, the tiger trout are caught closer to the bottom, so trolling isn't the best way to catch them, unless you troll close to the bottom or bait fish. That being said, I have caught a few while trolling at East canyon but they are few and far between.

Spoons were working all day.
I've caught lots of nice tigers out of E.C. trolling by the damn. I'll probably go try and nail the big-uns up at BC this Friday.

I use spoons most of the time. They work great. I use two main colors with plenty of others in my asenal.

Hey Masta, what boat is yours? My girlfriend and I were also on Lost Creek early early Saturday morn. Unfortunately we were just shore fishin (my tags didn't arrive when i needed them[frown]), and couldn't make a go of anything but crawdads. I tried everything in my box until i got tired of walking the dam jigging (and throwing spoons!), and went to lazy mans fishing. Tossed a crawly out on the bottom and the crawdads loved it. Tried every combo of bait and lures i could come up with, but to no avail. This has not been my year for fishing at all...anywhere i've been. lol. Suppose that'll happen from time to time eh?

I have a blue and white Glasstron Conroy 16.5 open bow with a 90 horse 2 stoke Johnson...
The bank tanglers usually do well with green powerbait and or flies under a bobber.
Early morning they may be up higher and you can hook them with normal spin tackle. My fav for throwing is the gold Jakes spin a lure. We call it the lost creek killer. Later on in the fall we'll long line the Jakes and have a hard time keeping the small ones off, however with the 90+ degree weather going on the fish are down way deep so throw some weight on and drop power bait / worm marshmellows and hope the mud bugs don't steal it...
Here's a pic of my boat... enjoy

I guess it depends on what you are using then, because you are the first member that has said much about catching the tigers while trolling[Smile]. Do you fish from shore at BC?

Crappy picture but this is a EC tiger taken probably on a #7 Broke back rainbow. Down the first arm between the dam and marina. lead core trolling line.

Wow a #7, that is a size that I have never thought to try at EC. I've always used the smaller stuff, sounds like I had better change up a little, thanks for the info. By the way, have you ever tried lures that big at LC?

I use these for trolling all lakes. After hearing from you all I am going to add a few smaller pointers.
Any way, the fish caught in the post were caught with the #7 black and silver count down all by itself, drowned continuosly with a 10 lb. ball attached down 30-35 feet (I love my new downrigger). We then ran the the trolling polls and dodgers with 7 oz lead leaders as shown and then 30" back ran the #7 broke back rainbow. The #7 must be in the boat. I believe the one pictured is a #9. Same set up I believe that caught the tiger in the pic.
And maybe I shoud recant and say we have caught a few trolling... not all the time. I catch fish on all of these lures. I try to throw 3 different colors between the rods and zero in on what they want and then switch over to best duplicate. I seam to like to throw some odd stuff once in awhile because you just never know. The brown was my wifes, caught on a #7 rainbow broke back earlier this year at East Canyon.
