Early Venison...
#1
My third quick trip out on my doe tag (Aug 2 - Sept 30) Sanpete Valley. Saw a few deer the past two times, but this morning I brought my wife to accompany my instead of my friend who I was introducing to hunting for the first time. She was my good luck charm. Saw about a dozen deer between 6 AM- 7AM. I put a nice little stalk on a doe from spotting her at about 300 yards, to sneaking (army crawling) through the sage and across a small creek to with in 20-25 yards. I packed my muzzleloader since I have never shot any animal with it (always archery hunt). Well, put her down nice and early before it got too hot. Had it skinned, quartered, and in the cooler of ice by 8:30 AM. Very fun stalk hunt, and a nice morning spent with the wife. Could have shot a much larger doe, but found it to have fawns. I was very pleased to get some fresh venison so early, and even more pleased that she di not seemto be a mother (no milk). Can't ask for a better time than hunting with your better half.

Looks like a lot of fun. Nice work on gettin' some meat for the table as well. Makes me wish the archery season would hurry up!

That will make for some good jerky and roast to fuel you for the rest of the hunts to come. Glad you got it. Looks like a perfect age for eating.
