I was heading back from Blackfoot on monday and decided to swing into Condie and have a look. I was pleasently supprised to see that there were bluegill, perch and bass fingerlings everywhere! I took a couple casts from the bank and landed a couple decent bass. Does anyone know if the fish and game planted some buegill and pearch in there this year? Seems like the last 3 years I haven't seen any in there, just bass feeding on themselves. Maybe it was just Condies bust years and it's finally on the upside. Any Ideas?

I think it is just Condie's cycles. The F&G usually will not plant bluegill and they certainly wouldn't put perch in there.

I think it's the result of having some water in the reservoirs for a few years in a row. I saw a lot of big gills spawning at Condie this spring, so hopefully things are on an upswing. I also noticed that some of the other places that usually have a lot of skinny bass are producing some fatties now.

I hope youre right, when I started fishing it about 5 years ago that place was on fire for bass, well for pretty much everything. I even saw a muskie swimming around with its head out of the water one evening but that was years ago. The bass I caught the other day were pretty fat for their length.

I hope so too. I've only been living in the area for a couple of years and so far Condie has been hit or miss for me. It would be nice to have another place with good fishing that isn't swarming with ski boats.

Well it looks like Condie definitly is on an upswing from past years. We got on the water around 6:30 and had some awesome top water acition till a little after the sun broke the horizon. After that it was wacky riggin dingers till the wind picked up. After that, it was spinnerbaits and fat cranks. It was freakin awesome. We landed 40 fish between the two of us , most averaging 2 lbs, but we did catch a couple that were pushing 3. The bass look really healthy and fat. Lots of bluegill and perch in the moss pockets along with smaller bass. I hope they don't winter hard this year, if they don't next year should be even better! If you've never been to Condie you should make at least one trip, it's one of those places where the bass act like bass if you know what I mean.

Sounds like I just might have to head up there the next time I get a free day. Good to know they're hitting well again.

Thats great. I really love Condie, just wish I had more time to fish it. Too little time, too much water.
