Oar locks
#1
Hi, on a recent trip I snapped one of my oar locks. My boat is a water skeeter, I think they are out of business so I cant order from them.

The ones I had look like this. I wasnt crazy about them, they were kind of loose, but they did the job.

I found some replacements that look like this:

Unfortunatly, the ones above dont seem to fit properly in the boat fitting. I tried to make a shim, but i'd rather just get the right fit.

Can someone recomend some to me?

No, those two are not interchangeable. If and when mine break I am going to spend the extra and go with the Cobra's:

As the name says, they keep the blade of your oar in the right position.
You replace the ring on your oar with these and the long piece goes between the horse shoe keeping the blade of your oar in the position you set it in...no twisting

Doesn't Outcast make something similar?

They sell the same stuff, but they don't make it.

The outcast is cheaper though. Worth checking a few more sites for the best price.
I have had Oar Rights for probably 15 years. My new oars don't require them, but I have them anyway.

I like my oar rights. I used my oars a few times without them and that sucked. I saw instantly that if I was floating a river I didn't want to miss a stroke because my oar was not right. Ron

But my oars are a one way shape. They are like a spoon so to speak. I can row in reverse but it would be better if I could turn the oars around. plus this style does right it's self according to the Hubby who doesn't use them.
On the average oars, they are indeed a must.

I don't know how damaged the part is but if it looks salvagable you might try taking it to a local machine shop or someone with access to a welder and see what that could cost. Hope that helps...

Won't work, they're made out of bronze.
Like Flygoddess mentions, NRS has them and Cabelas sells them, Sportsman's Warehouse has them, most river rafting shops have them. Same with Oar Rights. Just get the correct size.
BTW, they're suposed to be a little loose
