Snake River North of CJ Strike 9/3
#1
Went out to the Snake North of CJ today after channel cat (friend has been nailing them hard last few weekends). We started catch a few swquaw fish. After an hour fishing my partner hooked into a over 4' sturgeon. Made one great jump by the boat and had it on for 5 more min until it broke off. Five min after that I hooked into one. Gave me one great jump and after 40 min I got in landed at the boat. It was 4.5' long. My first sturgeon ever. In the next 40 min we hooked into 2 more. One of them was over 6' (by guess on the jump) we got broke off by both. In the next 2 hours we hooked 2 more but lost them. We only had on 20lb test. As I said we were cat fishing. This was all at one anchor point. I also landed a 12" perch, a 13" smallmounth and a 18" rainbow. We caught a bunch of other small bass and some large squaw fish.

What a great day.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a great time with your unintended species.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I grew up back east and I miss having a bunch of different species in a body of water. I love that mystery of not knowing what you'll catch next. Someday I'll make it up to The Snake.
