Met up with a buddy I have not seen in a while this morning to try for some bass. Went to the dam about 6:45a.m and netted about 30 shad and went down river. First stop at the river park where I met a fellow CFF'er whose name has slipped my mind (I apologize) and he let me know I had a better chance with the live shad up river between the boat ramp and the railroad bridge. Set up about 50yds below the RR bridge and drowned a bunch of shad and broke off on the rocks but no bites. I think the current was a little to strong. So we started throwing artificial. Tried most everything without success except for one smallmouth about 3lbs that I caught on a Spro Jointed swimbait. Beautiful morning to be out and with good company.
