Strawberry 9/11/2010
#1
[fishin] went to the berry with 2 buddies of mine today. not the earliest start but as they say (better late than never)! got the boat launched at about 9:30 a.m, water temp was 59, headed out towards the ladders from strawberry marina in search of the fish! got a new trolling motor so decided to give it a try... had two poles out with pop gear and only had one bite in two hours..[crazy] so decided to cut the motor and drift a worm and pb (well my buddies did) i myself have heard about jigging trout with tube jigs, kinda like jigging for lake trout! so i gave it a try and WOW! biggest cutthroat of my life.. 22+ in. also missed probly 15 hits as im not to familiar with feeling the bites on the jigs.. but i did get my first trout jigging[Wink] after that switched to worm and powerbait and caught a few while drifting as the wind had started to pick up! all in all an awesome day at the berry! boated probly 20 cutts between the three of us, most were in the slot, two biggest being 20+ and 22+! also boated about 6 nice bows, kept four for dinner! one good sized rainbow around 17 in! love the berry! enjoy pics

Good job with the jigs. Just a suggestion now, but I would be careful around the forums posting pics of thumb-gaffed under slot cutts. I dont really care that much about Strawberry, but there's lots of folks on here that adore the place and may take offense.

I would be very interested in knowing how you keep your fish alive, taking pictures like that with your thumb threw his gills. That is not a legal fish, which means they need to be handled very carefully and released. I know that one your holding in the picture would go belly up if he was put back.

[fishin] we took 4 rainbows home for dinner... ALL cuts were released unharmed!!!! whats it to u what method i use to photograph my fish! just cause "you" cant hold a fish that way.... and release it unharmed, doesn't mean other people cant!!!! i simply posted my fishing trip and its pics and u jump my case for what my pics look like???? leave that up to the fish cops ok??? my stringer was legal when leaving and "every" cutt caught swam back to where it came from! this is not my first trout fishing experience at strawberry!!!! thx tho

All we are saying is that you should be careful with the pics you post of Strawberry. You are not supposed to thumb-hook a fish you release through the gills is all. The Strawberry lovers get sick looking at that stuff.

All I can say is - at least you didn't leave your rod and reel sitting in the sand.

Now THAT might really rub someone the wrong way.

Nice fish, nice photos - thanks for sharing.

Way to go at the Berry, I was there as well at strawberry as well on the 11th. I brought up a boat full of people and we caught a bunch of fish as well. One of my buddies and his sons were way excited to catch some fish to eat. Yep, they kept some little ones, yep there were some cuts under 15, yep they ate them. Its legal. Everyone had a blast. Yep we released a bunch of cuts under 15 and a bunch in the slot.

Good on you for having an awesome day on the berry. I would say forget those jokers that give you crap about how you hold the fish. they have to much time on there hands.......
