Looking into a new Rod, Any suggestions?

Hey all I am looking into getting a new pole/reel combo anyone have on to suggest? The DWR decided to run over my last one on the Willard jetty [:/]

I am the most used to Spin reel but have been interested in trying a Bait caster. Anyone know the difference in them ? I pretty well fish everywhere and for everything so any suggestions would be great. I am most likely to go for catfish if that really matters.

If anyone could suggest a good Trout/Bass reel and a good Catfish reel that would be amazing. Thanks in advance

Currently looking at either the

- Abu Garcia® Cardinal® 500 ALBi/Cabela's Fish Eagle® II Spinning Combo

Or the

-Abu Garcia® Ambaseur® Classic C3 Casting Reel

the second is a baitcasting reel.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Both great combo's cant go wrong with either depending on your budget Cabelas has the Carrot Stix on sale but if you looking for rod & reel combo under 100 bucks Id say go with the:

Shimano Sienna 2500 Voltaeus Spinning Combo they did have the ros on sale for 20 bucks but looks like they changed it. ( I knew I should of picked up another [crazy] )

The Voltaeus rod is Shimano version of ugly stik tough as nails but has a sensitive tip life time warranty too

I just got a new combo not too long ago and absolutely love it for the price. I bought a shimano sienna 2500 (only $30), and then put it on an ugly stick light medium weight (about $35). Great middle of the road combo for all around fishing. I put Power pro 20 # braid on with some 6 # Yo Zuri fluorocarbon leader.

Why do so many people love ugly stick type rods? Yeah they're indestructible but they're so limp you can't use it for anything but very light action rods and bait fishing. I prefer a medium or med/heavy rod with a fast action for trout and bass. I know there are people that don't fish like me but I still feel like a stiff rod is the best choice for most trips.
