news from Willard or EastCanyon from shore?
#1
Hey all I am trying to get out and try some new suggestions I have gathered lately and plan on going to either Willard or East Canyon/Lost Creek tomorrow.

I have done some homework and hopefully it will help me out. So I am curious, Has anyone gone up to any of those lakes recently and done well *as in one fish at least* from shore?

I hope to hit either Lost Creek or East Canyon on Saturday morning and Willard tomorrow around 5 ish to 11:30 ish.

So basically I am looking for any bait or area suggestions.

At the moment I plan on using Minnows from the Warehouse and Punch bait from wally world for cats at willard.

Does that seem smart?

Still curious as to a good location from the shore to fish willard. If anyone could give me a place to even start fishing from that would be awesome. Thanks all.

At Willard take 89 to the road next to 5 C trailer park. Drive down that road uder the freeway and on until you come to a T intersection then turn right and drive to the end of that road. You should be at a small parking area and there will be a walking bridge across the canal go across the bridge up to the top of the dike and left 2-21/2 power poles. I've always done well there. Good luck.

2 & 1/2 power poles - I love it! Nice info - good map spot. That's about where we saw a couple shore tanglers - hollered something about a boil, and a 7 lber.

That area should be pretty good for kitties. Nice and rocky, towards the feedlot too - there's patches of weeds here and there that hold pretty good structure. I learned there's a spot where "the poles all align" and underwater there's an old road, so nice ledges - just the way the walleyes like it!

I've wondered if this old map might actually show where the "pre-lake" roads could be. If they run out from the existing 'land roads'. Just follow the lines....

So where is East Canyon? Sounds like it's hoppin! Damn, the list grows longer....

East Canyon is above Morgan Ut. Just get off the freeway and follow the road through the town and up the mountain. Good lake to fish for trout this time of the year.

Sounds like a great trip to East Canyon, I'm Heading up tomorrow, 9-24. Any other tips for a newbie to bigfishtackle. We'll be trolling rapalas, no downriggers on the boat, we usually troll along the north end from launch ramp area to dam. Any other location to try? Other lures working better?

We made it out, I mistakenly said 9/24, we actually went 9/23. Caught some small fish, nothing too crazy. Tried all kinds of stuff, what worked for us was Tazmanian Devil trolling from marina to dam. Seems to be par for the course for us. Tried some of the recommendations but with little success, didn't seem like anyone else was catching much either.

We did have one crazy encounter!! We were on the south end, by the outhouse and something was swimming towards us on top of the water. As it got closer, it was a rainbow, by far the largest one we'd seen all day. It swam in a large circle and on it's second circle it swam right up to the boat, 16 inches long, it's definitely a pretty fun story to tell and will probably never happen again.
