never forget your bait!

decided to hit Utah Lake Wed morning. Wife had a little too much fun tues night while i was working, and we missed out targeted departure time of 7:30. Launched from Lindon around the crack of 10:00.

About the time we hit the Lindon Exit, i realized we did not being any bait from the freezer. Ehh, no big deal, we'll catch a couple of white bass and hit he cats. hoping for the 10lb'r.

We can hit the Lindon store for worms. WRONG. the whole store thing seems like a great idea to me, and i am not complaining, Lindon is my favorite harbor on the lake. But this is the third time i wanted to spend some of my money and support the store. Only to find it closed, once again. i have never been in it. always closed. must just be for the weekend warriors?

Oh well, we can still catch a few WB for bait, right? WRONG. water levels are so low. cant even get to the poo river really. about 50-75 yards out it is below the 2ft mark. Wife had one hit as she raised her line from the water. was on about .0002 seconds. Wanted to try the bubble up, but i noticed a boat sitting between the 6th and 8th buoys. Made a few casts along the rocks at the harbor, shallow!. Was going to cruise to the bubble up and ask the boat if it was ok to fish with them for a couple wb. As I fired up to head over, they jetted out. SWEET. TD slayed them there last week. We'll catcha few, no problem. WRONG!

We fished it from the north, from the south, over it, around it, through it, on the sides, over the top and around the edges. nothing. not a nibble. we tried 2-3 different shades of red, red/white. about 6 different shades of green, orange, manic minnow, road runners, and just about everything er have ever caught a WB on, and nary a hit.

Frustration sat in about 12:45 and we went home. no bait, no store, no cats..

NEVER FORGET YOUR BAIT!!!

[#0000ff]Good point about never forgetting the bait. I almost always bring about 3 kinds...minnows, carp meat and worms. Sometimes white bass meat or even perch meat. But I NEVER count on being able to catch something before I can catch something.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The store was closed on the Friday I was there too. There were quite a few people coming and going and I am sure they are missing out on business by not opening the store. Oh well. I guess it is really expecting too much for them to open a fish cleaning station.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]About the bubbleup. I have had a couple of other reports about the whities pulling a disappearing act since my report. But, fish are fish and they pretty much do what they want, for their own reasons. To be honest, I have had a lot more poor sessions there than good ones. Just happened to catch the whities at home on my last trip...before they took off some place else. Gotta be properly grateful for the good times and accept the bad times as part of the world of a fisherman.[/#0000ff]

She trains really hard and is really good at it. Should have bought stock in Crown years ago. I'd be a major stock holder for sure...
