I am taking my son to the Uintas tomorrow and will introduce him to float tubing and flyfishing. We are good to go on flies (thanks for the info Fly Goddess)! I love Trial, Washington and Mirror - which lake would you suggest we start at?
Thanks in advance for your help-

Seems like I have heard more good reports for Trial than Mirror. But don't know cause I have not fished them myself.
For the same distance you could also try Bridger Lake, I have never had a bad day there either.

I like Washington myself. I haven't fished it yet this year, but it has rainbow, brook, tiger, and grayling in it (I mainly catch rainbows). They're typically a little hungrier as the water temps cool. I'll definitely hit it before the snow flies.

If you don't have a preference otherwise I'd base it on stocking reports since most fish caught are recently dumped off a truck. A quick look shows Washington hasn't been stocked since 8/17 while the other 2 got stocked last on 9/08. My son caught his first fish totally on his own at 5 on Lost so I'm partial to that one myself. It was at ice off before the first stocking of the year. It was an 18 inch rainbow. The thing was so skinny I bet it didn't weigh a pound but my son always points out his first trout was 18 inches long.
