Help finding Pike or Tiger Muskie

I've never caught a Pike or a Tiger Muskie and I really wanna add one of those to my list of fish caught. Just looking for anyone who's got some info on Pike or Tiger Muskie fishing in Idaho. I know it's gonna be better further north but I'm looking for info on where to go in the McCall or Cascade area. I've looked up some stuff through fish and game and know theres a few lakes in that area they've stocked the Tiger Muskie, don't think there's pike until you get further North. Any advice on where to go, what to use, and when to go would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into those Tiger Musky lakes around McCall and the way I understand it they were just stocked to eat most of the trout in those lakes. The lakes they put them in were overpopulated with stunted trout. The Tiger Musky ate the trout until the food supply ran out and then started to die. Since they are hybrids they can't reproduce, so the lake was left with very few trout and could be managed as desired. I don't know if there are any Tiger Musky left in any of the lakes.

There's a little lake North of Gooding i think it's called Dogleg, or Dogwood.. that's a ways from McCall but it has some dandy Tiger muskie's in it.. they need to be 40" to retain.
I have never fished it, but one of my friends has caught several,, but only two over 40".. most are around 30-35"

Some more info would be great, I actually live in Boise, so Gooding isn't too far, I had just asked for details around McCall cuz i usually make a trip up there every couple months or so and assumed thats the nearest place I could find them, but I could make a trip out towards Gooding too.

Lets go to northern Idaho next summer. Seriously. We can take the kiddos and let the ladies play and do their thing while we fish. I have a cabin we can stay at on the lake too that has a dock and room for 1 boat, but we could probably fit 2. I'll have my boat going by then. I'm planning on heading up, and it would be rad if you guys came along. I can talk to my dad and get ahold of some locals at the state park there that would know what to use/where to go.

Tiger muskie have been planted in Little Payette Lake in 2002, 2006, and then in 2007 they planted a significantly larger number of them. I know folks who fish for them there and do quite good, and for some lunkers at that. They are very tight-lipped about the fishery, and swore me to secrecy in regards to what they were fishing with. Just think typical hardware! By the way, I believe the problem is not trout, but rather stunted kokanee. If the problem was stunted trout, they wouldn't have been planting kamploops trout in there every year, including about 10,000 this year. The kokanee certainly haven't been wiped out either. thanks for the info, I've been wanting to check out little payette lake but what I've heard from people in the past is its pretty tough to get them there. But then again thats how you keep a good spot good. Tell everybody it stinks. [] I will have to try my luck there next chance I get.

[fishin] its aways away from mccaml but in preston johnson and lemont res bolth have tigermuskie in them as a matter of fact a josh willson might be shown in the next years idaho fishing regs for the new state record muskie out of lemont he caught it in late march it was a lunker the ones in these res are very hard to catch as there arnt many in there... and as for tiger muskies being steril that was proven wrong years ago they have benn found in many lakes up north that are self sastaning there population.. not muskelunge or pike but the hybred tiger muskie.. any way hope this helps you..[]
