Fished Strawberry today and i guess word travels fast about big fish. It was a zoo up there today, we sat in a 20 truck line to launch the boat this morning. I have never seen it so crowded. The fishing was good not great, we landed 15 and had 6 or so come off. We threw the usual stuff in the shallows, tubes and cranks. The fish were all over, from right on the bank to the middle of the bays.

Sounds like a decent trip. I have found that getting there at first light is the key to avoid that long line at the ramp. What time of day did you launch?

We were a little late, we launched at about 7:30am. However i don't think it would of been much of a difference even at 7:00am the parking lot was chuck full even while we sat in the long line. Of course being saturday, and UEA weekend does'nt help either. Still really surprised to see so many people up there, like i said i have never seen it so crazy. I hope alot of people are just out getting a final hoorah, before they put away there boats for the winter. For the rest of us we know the best fishing is yet to come.

I think it was a combination of the nice weather, and the report on the news about the huge cutt and Bow that was caught earlier in the week. They reported with the cool water the big ones are shallow. Everyone went up to get some of that action.
My Uncle shore fished at Haws and said it was shoulder to shoulder. No one really catching but he tangled with his neighbors line. Also a boat came bye and casted to shore and tangled someone's line. There was a verbal fight. Not the solitude and fun fishing is meant to be.

There is always a battle somewhere. We were there on the Haws side on shore and had quite a few boaters come within catsing distance....and that says a lot because we use crappy gear that can't cast to the middle of the lake. I guess fish like big groups of people[crazy].....not.
We also had a very nice boater give us a ride back to the parking lot...ya win some ya loose some, there are good people in all walks of life.
Happy fishing,
Shawn M
