me and my brother-in-law have started fishing for muskie at pine view and really want to catch one. we have been a couple times and have been skunked. I'm reading all these stories on bft about people going out muskie fishing for the first time and landing 35in. muskies. My brother has a boat. what do you suggest? Dude I want a muskie.

A LOT of time!!!! Sometimes you'll catch one on the first cast and sometimes it takes a dozen or so trips. I have hooked well over a dozen but have never landed one. I was up there today fishing for bass and hooked one on a 4 inch drop shot robo worm. He was well over 40" and I knew he was going to cut me off but at least I got to see a full aerial acrobatic move before he cut it. Just keep casting!!!

I have been up there at least once a week for the past several months and within the last couple of weeks i have hooked into and not landed 5 up till then nothing. I think it is mostly pure luck to get one first crack, I spent most of my summer out there trying to figure out what to use and and how to work it in order to get even intrest in my bait. It has taken a ton of patience and now i am hoping i will be able to get one before it freezes. It is the fish of a thousand casts and eventually you will get one[fishin]

well I am excited. I think I am going up friday and saturday so we will see. Dude I have seen videos of muskie being caught and I haven't ever really caught a fish that looks so hard to land. I am just sitting here on a sunday night waiting for next weekend. This is going to be a long week. I can tell. I was reading up on a few disscusions and some people said that they don't like using a steel leeder and instead they will buy very heavy braided line. what do you suggest?

Top water stuff like spooks and other stuff that has a walk the dog motion. Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and jointed crank baits are also good. big tubes jigs work good for me. The biggest key to musky success is putting in the time having patience and using the right stuff, some people get lucky but the majority don't.musky are a fun sport fish I hope this helps

I used to use the fly fishing steel leader but that just got to be a pain trying to tie it on my main line without getting kinks in it. Now I'll just use braid or flourocarbon depending on what and how I am fishing.

[left]Forget the boat most of the muskies are hiding around the shore line about 2 yards out. Best thing to do is get your self some waders and a float tube and start fishing. This past saturday i went out with a buddy of mine and caught a 35 inch tiger muskie about 20 yard off shore. [inline Tigermuskie5.jpg]

No the best thing to use is a green roadrunner with a spinner on the back and a worm. Got plenty of bites and reeled in a 35 incher on just 6lb test line and jig

(jiggyjus10) actually sometimes my brother in law is a smart mouth and thinks he knows everything.
I am not very good at jigging with a tube jig or anything like that. I like using lures better. any tips on jigging. I know the basics but I don't think I have ever caught one on a jig. I want to cause I see people catching them with jigs all the time but I can't seem to get it down. Any tips would be great

I think we got really lucky catching one on the first trip, and it was a blast. But following the advise of the others like Wildcat94 is probably best. He seems to have a good system. Paul

I agree about checking in with Lance over at Anglers Den. He has been catching TM's since they were put in Pineview. He's given me great advice in the past and I've put steel in the mouth of more Tiger's than I can keep track of.
And i'm glad you mentioned that if your going to ask for advice on locations and presentations, be sure to buy some lures and stuff. Giving out free advice doesn't pay the bills if you know what I mean.
