Ode to fishing...
#1
I ran across this quote I cut out of a newspaper a long time ago and thought I would share it.

"Fishing is the chance to wash one's soul with pure air. It brings meekness and inspiration, reduces our egoism, soothes our troubles and shames our wickedness. It is discipline in the equality of men -- for all men are equal before fish."
- Herbert Hoover, 1929-1933

Chris,

I vsited Hoover's fishing retreat in Shanendoah NP a few years ago. One of his requirments for his retreat was that it had to be within a 100 miles of Washington and have a trout stream. If you look at the amazing amount of trouble he faced with the onslaught of the Great Depression you can truly understand both the quote and his retreat. The location is well maintained and I believe you can even rent his cabin; it is a nice 2-3 mile walk from the sky rim drive.
