To those looking for good raingear...
#1
I was drooling over a set of Cabela's guidewear rain gear on their web site yesterday. At $230 for the jacket, it's not cheap, but supposed to be one of the best sets of rain gear.

I decided I was going to ask for a set of the uninsulated jacket and bibs for Christmas, so I decided to go into the retail store in Boise to try on the jackets and see what size I needed.

Glad I went, because I found the same jacket on clearance for EIGHTY BUCKS! They only had my size in one color, but for $150 off, I did not care. I bought one big enough to layer clothing underneath and while I have yet to test out the waterproofness, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the jacket so far. Guess I'll just ask for the bibs for Christmas.

They still have a few left, so if you want one, haul your butt in and snag one.

Last year we bought the Cabela's Gore-Tex guidewear jackets. They were 79.99 regular 219.00.

They are Awesome jackets for the money. We also have the Gore Tex EXV mesh lined jackets that we just put through a nice test this last weekend.

They kept us bone dry in some nasty conditions. Cabelas Gore Tex gear can't be beat and their customer service is top notch.

Awesome deal. I've often wondered about the guideware stuff on cabela's but never tried it myself. Just as another option you might look at the Rivers West gear. It's about the same price range but it's nice and silent for hunting situations. I bought a mid weight jacket last year and I've never gotten wet in it! I even tested it out by standing under the eaves of the house during a major rain storm last year. Nothing got in.

I don't think I'd look good in camo pink. [Wink][laugh][laugh]

Yeah, the Gore-Tex rainwear is the one on clearance.

Sure wish I'd had it this spring with all that rain and the storms we had blow through. I was soaked to the bone a couple of times.

A couple of years ago I found the same bargain price at the newly opened Boise Cabela's store, and purchased a pair of insulated Guidewear bibs and an uninsulated Guidewear jacket. It was a great purchase. I wear the bibs on cold days - I had them on today while fishing the Snake - and layer lots of clothes under the jacket, when needed.

Incidentally, the Snake River smallmouth bite is slowing down, but they are still feeding. I got 3 in 2 hours today, but did had one day last week with 42 fish.
