been wanting to hit Scofield for a while now. but work and other things have got in the way.. so finley got up there yesterday.. the area i wanted to fish had ice over it so we had to go to plan B.. lol got too plan B area and started fishing.. kind-a slow there so made a quick move and found the fish in a big way.. first fish of the day was a 17 inch tiger i cant rember after that what fish we cought next.. we caught so many fish that we lost count after the fist 20 min's.. lol most were small under the slot.. about 25 fish in the slot and 5 fish over the slot.. long fish of the day was 23 1/2 tiger 3 1/2 lbs.. heavy fish of the day was a 22 inch cutt that was 4 lbs.. both were caught at the same time one by my buddy dave he caught the tiger, i caught the cutt..
the lake was about 1/2 iced when we got there in the morrning.. by the time we left 90 % of the lake that i could see was open and the wind had pushed the ice up on the shore.. still should not be to long be for the hard deck hit's..
i'm going to spend some time on there this season iceing it... some realy nice fish comeing out of there the last while..
here are some pic's..

well hard to say when it will ice up safe.. looking at last nights temp's it did not even get below freezeing last night up there.. with warm air comeing in it's not going to happen in the next 3 or 4 day's.. looks like the back side of the storm is cold air, so there is a good chance that it will freeze up then.. thats waht i'm hoping anyway.. looked like the ice has bunched up on E-lake on the north end if it is thick enough it might be fishable soon.. 14 degrees at Soldier Summit last night. Below freezing from 5 p.m. until after 10 a.m. this morning. Same elevation, just 15 miles away. Red Narrows was below freezing from 10 p.m. until after 9 a.m. Skyline was warm all night though. Probably upslope winds from the Sanpete valley. Scofield has been off line for a few days, so it's hard to tell exactly what's happening there. My guess is it's freezing in that valley.

i was going off the wether tower 5 miles from the lake and 1000 feet higher. it was 38 to 42 all night and jumped up to 45 today. it was not very cold there last night when we left... and lot's of wind.. hard to get good ice with it doing that.. still with 1/2 the lake frozen when we got there shows it's ready for the ice.. Thanks for keeping us posted on those lakes up there. I hoped to get up there the last few days but it didn't work out, but maybe I can be one of the first to try the ice fishing. I'm getting jazzed for it.
