Koosharem Ice, But Skunk Happens
#1
Well, me and the man cub went Christmas tree shopping today on the east side of the Monroe. I knew the Koosh would be frozen and couldn't resist drillin' a hole to test the thickness. And hey, even though there hasn't been a decent report from there for, oh 2 years or so...I had to wet a line and test my new setup for the portable fish finder. The good news: The auger and fish finder setup work great! The bad news: Not a fish to be seen on the graph or our lines. 8' of water, green and white leadheads with 'crawlers. 3-4" of rock solid ice. The O.C. won't be far from fishable now!

And we did manage to close the deal on a legal Monroe fir. Tag filled and a swell day with the big guy and friends!

Thanks for posting your report Jim, too bad the catching wasn't happening but it is nice to get a report from that neck of the woods. Any guess on when OC will be fishable?

It's usually a week or two behind Koosharem, depending on the weather. It's been pretty cold here since the storm rolled thru a few days ago.

The upper lake at Otter Creek is pretty dicey early on. I guess the water flowing in keeps the ice real uneven, so be careful.
