Thought I'd show off my christmas present to my dad. 8' 4pc 5wt. I think it turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think. I've got another one just like it for myself that I'll probably start on tonight.

Nice looking rod Kidder. Do you know the weight of that rod after you finished?
I think I took you bushwhacking a little too late last year. Start getting in shape now because in another 5 months that place should be red hot if you can get over the little hill[laugh] that keeps everyone else out.

That's exactly why I bought a four piece kit in the first place! Being able to throw my rod in my backpack will help, with waders this time. I'll try and be in shape if you'll let me tag along again!
As for the actual weight of the rod I don't have any idea, sorry.

Does anyone have a short cut for wrapping in two different colors? I want to wrap my rod in blue with gold trim and can't figure out a way rather than doing two separate wraps.

Two separate wraps is the only way I know . Granted, sucks when you want that fine band of another color.[:/]

You can do it in the same wrap,I'll try and explain. Start 1st thread, do wrap, before finish, lay gold thread end, on blank and make 4 wraps over it with 1st thread,There is a trick to not getting a tag showing through. After you wrarp the 4 times you have to pull gently on the gold until the tag does not show.finish 1st thread make the amount of wraps of gold you want and finish as 1st.

So would you finish 1st thread like you normally would? Or would you wrap the 2nd thread over the 1st? Thanks for your help.

Sorry didn't see your reply when I posted the you tube thing. 1st goes over second then finish 1st as you normally would then wrap accent and finish it like thread.
I saw a good video that did it with a straw,I liked that method too.

So you don't have to try to start the trim by itself, but you still have to finish both the same. That helps, getting that fine trim was a little tuff till I figured this out...great video though, dang wish I had found that last year...LOL
