I know a lot of posts are coming in from soldier creek and most about the same....a lot of work to catch them fish. My bro in law and I met up with FishinDoc and his family about 7:30 at the lake and had a very slow start to catching anything. After digging way too many holes and marking up most of the bay with our auger, along with trecking through knee deep snow, we finally got into some cut throat and rainbows. It was by no means a massacre but a couple of keepers came home.. Also caught 4 dads or so, but they are back in their home. The one cut was 23" on the money and will be eaten!! BTW as noted by many, the ice is safe, and cutter bugs and gizzy work well. Here are pictures for fun.

The ladders is frozen. 41/2 inches of ice. Fished it and caught 5 rainbows and a giant 26 in cutthroat. Released cutthroat and kept two rainbows. Road is not plowed and walked from the road. Chicken creek is frozen and had several tents up this morning. that also is not plowed.

Slush conditions? Did you get a ticketed for parking on the highway?

Hiked from the turnoff. 4 vehicles were parked and the Fish Cop showed up and said to park outa the way of the loader that was supposedly coming to clear the road in. We left at 2:30 and no loader. But we passed it clearing mill B road for the snowmobilers parking. Oh and we did not get a ticket. We walked out about 200 yards from shore. NO SLUSH ice was blown off free of snow.

Congrats on you successful day. One more question on the ice. Did you venture out far? I wonder if the 4 1/2" ice goes out far? I know the cutts like deeper water and the bows like shallower water. What about snow thickness on top of the ice?
I guess that was three questions.[Wink]

It is safe to walk on trust me. I walked straight out over 2 football fields and it was solid. No snow all blown off. Chicken East is slush hole . lots of snow fished today. Caught 11 fish.
