Sunset 1/11/11
#1
The boy and I went to Sunset today after he got home from school, got there around 3:30pm and set up. Very slow day saw a few caught and saw a few swimming around but very tough. Used worms, lures, powerbait, and power mouse for nothing. Tied on a fly and bobber and got my one and only bite and landed a 10 inch trout. The NDOW[cool] came around and checked for licenses and every one there was legal first time I have seen them at Sunset and nice guys to boot! Glad to see them making sure we all paid our dues. I honestly think it is not fishing pressure causing slow days but very cold weather and water. Early in the season it was lights out but the colder it has gotten the slower as well. Weather says it will warm up from the mid 40's to the mid 60's the next few days so maybe the trout will bite better.

It's not the cold but the high and low pressure of the fronts. Fish tend to bite on the high pressure fronts.
Like before a storm the fishing is really good.

For shallow waters this affects fish much more than a deep water lake where conditions like temp and pressures are constant at lower levels.

Also try the bright orange Trout power worms by Berkley.
Thread them on a straight small shank hook with a small splitshot weight. Cast and slow real and WHAM!

My best day at Sunset this season was when the weather was cold and blowing 20+ but it was early in the season to, late November I believe. It was also nice because the weather kept the crowds at home. The color I have been seeing getting bit the best has been whit but every time I go to BPS they are out. Pink worked early in the season then orange was good for a few trips but lately I have been getting bit on the splitshot worms. I want to hit it again on Friday before the holiday weekend so I will throw everything in the box at them again and see how I do. I will let you know. What type of hook are you using? I have used owner mosquito #8 & #10 bait holder #10 and khale #10 I like the khale hooks cause you can rig them weed less.
