What do you do when you catch a sucker/carp in a "blue ribbon" trout fishery? I have read and heard people say the sucker fish eat trout food, their eggs (during spawning) and they should be tossed on the bank/killed. But...I have also read and heard people say the suckers are important in the river ecosystem and they help clean the waterways.
I realize there is no right/wrong answer, I am just curious what other fly anglers think.

Just my opinion but I would kill it. Carp can trash a Blue Ribbon fishery pretty fast.

Tuff call because I have caught several at Blue Ribbon waters (like Henry's Lake) I have been known to kill them and feed the seagulls but they are also food for the Brookies and Strawberry, the cutts and bows.
Lakes that it looks to be getting out of hand like SCOFIELD, I would kill them.

If you were fishing the Weber, I'd put the Utah Sucker back as they're a native species and have a role in the ecosystem.

Utah Sucker fish and The Common Carp are two different species both are pretty abundant and both provide a important role as feed but once both species grow larger they tend to have a negative impact on fish populations.
