Blackcloud Snow Goose

Anybody shot it? supposedly it's putting out 80% loads at 40 yards with a modified choke and consistently lethal out to 60. Might pull out my patternmaster and give it a go this spring....

I haven't tried that product just yet. If you have the normal type patternmaster, you shouldn't shoot the black cloud ammo. The wad in the black cloud shell does what your patternmaster does, so you may actually decrease the performance of the ammo by having too much of a good thing.

yeah, the wad in black cloud snow goose stays with the shot until like 25 yards. I've read reviews of guys that shot black cloud out of a pattern master and it blew their tube out of their gun and into the pond so.....yeah. no bueno. If I could be confident in a 50 yard shot though I'll ditch the PM and go with my factory improved modified or something.
We went down to delta two years ago and there were so many people there it was a joke. The only shot of the day was 55 yards and we of course didn't knock any down. I may not even have a place to go for snows this year but if I do, I may as well give BC snow goose a try.

I bought a couple of cases of that black cloud and i wouldn't say it was worth the $$$$. Also i picked up quite a few wads with a half dozen or more BB's still stuck in the wad! Also have heard the same thing from others. Don't know if th esnow goose is any different. my opinion is

is it still sky busting if I can make a 50 yard one shot kill on the bird I was aiming at? I hate sky busters as much as the next guy but If I hit and kill what I'm aiming at i don't feel unethical.
Of course, i'd rather kill birds at 15 yards over dekes but in the real world that's sometimes not a possibility and snow geese seem to only offer long shots sometimes, hence the black cloud "snowgoose" load.
As to the black cloud detractors, i've hunted with it a bit and was impressed. I felt it hit harder than the comparably priced heavy steel. The BC snowgoose is also moving at 1625 fps so if speed kills, not many loads out there are moving faster.

Anyone can take as long a shot as they want,Period!

What happens though is the birds learn to fly higher to stay out of harms way. If you can take a shot like that and that is all you have then take it.
If you have 300 snow geese coming over [] there is always the golden BB example.
I have seen guys take 80 yrd shots and knock ducks and geese down,stoned'em too! dead before they hit the ground.

All I am saying the higher you shoot the higher they fly, If you let them same birds fly over you at 60 then chances are they will get lower next time thinking they are safe, then when they fly over at 30-40 you and all your friends slaughter the suckers.

I really don't care what any of you do though, I love fooling them just as much as I like shooting them. If there to high they get a free pass. but if they are dropping there feet more than one is going to eat dirt.[sly]

I shot the BC this year on ducks and it hammered them. I was impressed with it.
