Last year we fished near the south boat ramps and in rainbow bay. Did ok in rainbow bay. .. I know where the big ones hang out in the summer from trolling, but I wouldn't mind having some success sat..

We are going for rainbows or cuts, did perch last year. While they were really good, it is a lot of work to fillet them.

Trout will take traditional ice stuff , small jigs or ice flies tipped with worms, waxies. have also seen people do well on salmon eggs and power bait. usually 20-25 feet of water

Whatever you do... STAY AWAY from "South of the Island." What a joke that is.... We didn't get ONE bit in 40-50ft. Once we moved away from the pressure which was like in the middle of the lake, we finally started catching fish! lol Stay up more towards charlston if your wanting trout. Otherwise go DEEP for perch... They were hitting everything from Ratso, swedish pimple, any ice flys. Eyes worked the best for us... I couldn't tell ya what worked for trout cause he didn't catch a one.

I have been to Deer Creek three times the past week, and limited out several times over each time with trout. The recent fall stock trout are still cruising under the ice in 15 feet of water early morning before the sun comes up. Use glow soft body jigs in chartreuse along the bottom at 15 - 20 feet. These trout are white fleshed and smaller.

Once the sun comes up, the older trout are layering out at thirty feet over very deep water - 95 feet or so, not far up from the buoys above the dam. For these larger trout, put on a glow orange or yellow spoon attractor, and then drop 18 inches down with a full worm on an unpainted 1/8 ounce jig. Jig vigorously for a minute to attract, then let it set for 15 seconds for them to find the live bait. We were pulling them in every 6-8 minutes with this technique while those around us went 'fishless'. Big, fat, and salmon- orange flesh on these bad boys.
