whats the best 2 fly combo on the weeb

I'm kinda new to flyfishing, i keep telling my self i can figure it out. Come to realize its not that easy. I'm thinking of hitting the weeb soon. what is the best combo of flies to use, any pointers would be appreciated.

Daves hopper with a Hemming way caddis

My go to pattern is an olive bh hares ear with rubber legs trailed by an orange/pink/red san juan worm. I fished that patern up in the coalville area today and it did pretty well. I screened a bunch of small golden stone flies and sow bugs all day today as well so that would be a good pattern. Also try an irish spring or weber worm trailed by a zebra midge, that is a good winter pattern as well.

Thanks jdizzle and sinergy. I hit the weeb today for about 1 hr. I was mostly going to check and see how the water level was, i'm thinking about hitting on Sat. When I got there I realized I left my flies on my tying bench. But I still had a size 18 rainbow sow bug with an olive stripe down the back tied on. I then searched my hip pack in desperation of another fly. I saw a rainbow warrior in there out popped a size 20 tan scud black back red head. The scud was my dropper, the first half hour noth'n, but i came up on this hole i caught 4 fish in a half hour, would of had a fifth but broke my line. first was about an 18" brown the other 3 were 13-14" browns. caught one on the rainbow sow, the others were on the scud. I'm deffinetly going to try to get up there sat. i didnt have my camera, but will the next trip, i was just scoping the water and got temped to fish. Thanks again for your help

Nice. What part of the weber did you hit? I know echo is releasing 352 cfs so the river is running extremely high below echo. I hit it on Monday at the mouth of the Canyon and the high water level makes the fishing a lot tougher. I did have a nice bright Orange San Juan worm that helped catch a few browns.

It's the Weeb - it doesn't really matter except dries. Almost everything works, I don't even worry about matching the hatch there unless I'm not catching a half dozen fish an hour. Fish with what you enjoy fishing and worry about matching the hatch where it actually is likely to matter. I like size 10 bh prince nymphs and it does catch plenty of fish all winter.The Weeb is too small for me to bother with a second fly. If you want to target fish over 20 inches in the winter on the Weber go with a size 6 - 10 streamers fished fairly slow not the microflies. You'll catch less fish but won't be bothered with all the dinks and whities. If you want to use dries in the winter I would downsize to size 16 or smaller however. Next time your out try a size 10 or 12 for an hour then switch to the smaller stuff and let us know how you do. Be patient and cover a lot of ground if fishing streamers because on average there is only about 1 fish over 20 inches per hundred yards on the Weber below Echo and they aren't the easiest to fool.

jdizzle, When you get off the freeway in wanship follow the road around. Its the first right you come to turn, parked under the freeway. Walked up river from the freeway water was tough fishing for 150 -200 yards up. There was a spot where the water was kinda funneling to the middle. I was drifting just to the right of the mian current. Man was it fun!!!

I didn't need directions to the honey hole, just curious if you were above or below echo dam. Water is still flowing at 352 cfs below the dam so thats pretty good it can get tougher to fish with the fluctuating water levels.
