Thanks for the report. Thinking of taking the kids up midweek next week. Just wondering, what are spikes?

Thanks. They look like tiny waxworms.

Nice catch! I was thinking of hitting the view up sunday before superbowl. I believe the spikes you are using are some kind of maggots.

Wiperslayer and I hit the ice at the View yesterday as well. Also had a great day for the perch, 200 plus caught when we stopped counting. We were hoping for some crappie or something else but that did not happen. We fished in 32' of water and once we found the right spot, it was non stop action. We started off using wax worms but switched to perch eyes after we started keeping a few. All perch were under 9" and we tried not to keep any under 8". We keep 36 total and that was plenty, as it took hours to process those. Did you catch any larger than 9"? Did you catch any fish other than perch?

Where was everybody fishing for the perch my friend and I fished all the way up and down the south side of cemetery point for twelve hours and only caught seventeen perch combined. Bad day for us at the view.

I'm not sure where Troutslayer was fishing but we were North East of Cemetery point. If you park in the parking lot there, walk across the road, then go East once you get on the ice that is where we fished. We made the mistake of walking in from Middle Fork because we wanted to fish some new area that we thought was closer but as we walked, over a mile, and drilled holes we did not have much luck until we were almost to Cemetery point(CP). It would have been much closer to park at CP parking lot and walk out from there. Here is a picture of where we parked and some of our keepers.

All fish caught yesterday were perch. Fished in 28 ft of water, on the north side of Cemetery. Watched the perch scatter a few times, when the big boys would come through. Have a two pole permit set up for big boys, but no takers. Listened to bagpipes, and military taps as a funeral was conducted. Few fish were pushing 10, but most were 8 to 9 inches.

Same for us today PV, Browning Point. Met hookgrinin and went fishing with roghet and his kiddos. We caught hundreds all the same size 7-9". Tons of fun, eyes as bait. 15-25'

The south side has a different bottom. The north side all along, the tip of the point west, and back east on the north side... of the point always seems to produce more. It's good to avoid the crowds, but there is usually a reason they are there. Ice tent towns spring up where access is good and fishing is traditionally good.

It was good to meet you FishKillr. Would have hung around to fish with you but as you know, we were on a quest for crappie. BIGbites and I kept moving until we found some. We found crappie out from you about 100 yards in about 45 feet of water. They were hugging the bottom with the perch. Only caught small ones though. Biggest was only 8". I wanted to move around more to locate bigger crappie, but once the wind kicked up we set up the shelter and hunkered down. We ended up catching over 30 perch and a half dozen or so crappie.
Oh well, I guess we will just have to come back again for the slabs. We will be after big trout for the next few weeks though. I wish the view wasn't so far for us. It is a fun place to fish.

Playas, Yes I did come over and talk with you guys just before you set your shelter up. Looked like you guys were doing pretty well. Did you get any bigger crappie?

No, still just mostly small Crappie. I haven't caught a decent one in a couple of years there. Frozenover seems to catch the crappie with regularity, I don't.

Were you fishing at Cemetray Point? I plan on going up Saturday early am and hitting the pond early. Did you just go straight out from the Marina?
