Pelican Lake Feb. 5th
#1
My dad and I hit up Pelican Lake today. Started out on the west side of the lake and saw fish on the sonar but no luck, just one bite. We ate lunch and decided to move to the east side of the lake near where we parked. We could see the fish on sonar but couldn't get them to bite so we stopped on talked to some really nice guys who told us what was working. We started trying the chartreuse ratfinkee and immediately started slaying the fish from about 2-5 o'clock. We ended up with our limit in about 3 hours. Awesome day! Hope everyone else had as much luck.

Some times this late in the year you may want to try just a couple feet under the ice, it has worked for us in the past.

I am learning the value of small lures that have just a tiny bit of motion, like the ratso's, etc. Those tiny tails that barely quiver when yoiu try to hold them still, or tiny legs that do the same, .....

Warm water species seem to be able to be lethargic and aggressive at the same time, esp in a shallow lake like Pelican. The water just gets so cold they are slow, timid, and brain dead. Those wiggly things draw bites..

We were first on the west side of the lake then we ended the day on the east side of the lake (closest to the road). We were in a green Eskimo tent.

Finally got around to downloading some pics of the fish JAZZFAN and I caught. Here's what left during our filleting marathon. 40 total fish. 80 bluegill poppers deep fried. They also make great fish tacos.
