Ice at the Gorge?
#1
Hello all fellow anglers, I am new to the sight and wanted to say hello to all. I am wondering if anyone has any current ice conditions info (Not fishing reports or locations) from Flaming Gorge. I am headed up the next two weekends and hoping to find safe ice for wheelers. Any info will be appreciated.
thanks!

There is a fishing derby this weekend at the gorge that I'm sure kjpwyo can get you some good information on the ice. There is also one next weekend that 307FISHERMAN can get you good info. They both have the derby info listed on this utah site as well as the Wyoming one.

I should also mention that if you are looking for some good fishing you could always talk to Fishley as he is a guide and top notch from everything I've heard as well. I'm sure any of these folks can get you the info you need.

I see you signed up on BFT over a year ago, now that you got that first post out of the way, I hope we will here move from you[Wink]. There was a post a few days back where one of our members said the "wind blew so hard it took the ice back to past anvil." but as mentioned, you could also check out the Wyoming board for more up date info. Please let us know how you do, if you make it up there.

Thanks for the info guys. I will report my findings this weekend. I can't decide whether to go ice fishing or take the boat out.. Any suggestions?

As of this morning the ramp at Lucerne, Linwood bay, and stateline cove are froze over. I am sure sheep creek is as well. I have not talked to anyone from cedar springs, that may be open at the ramp as it is deeper, but I would bet the ice starts before Jarvies. I did not fish the gorge this weekend but talking to guys that did you should have safe ice from holmes north for wheelers. Check with a spud as you go as the up and down temps have left some thinner spots. There are some open holes around buckboard last weekend with 8-10 inch ice adjacent. I would leave the boat at home, even if you could get in at antelope or anvil(which I doubt) you can't go too far the pipeline is iced over as well.
Be safe
Matt

The Cancer Society reeling for relay derby is also this weekend, Kelly has a ton of door prizes and some really good ones if you want to get in.

Ice in front of the ramp, the gravel pit, Swim Beach, and Antelope.

I'm looking forward to spending quality time with some great friends and my best friend. Here's to hoping we get into some poor man's lobster and lunker lakers!

Not much change from two days ago, but its going to warm up, so be careful. Stay way up north for safe ice.

Thanks again, Jim. I think friday night we'll head out just above buckboard. We'll send the skinny guy in front with a rope tied to his waist. If he falls through its just one less hole we have to auger!
Thanks again for the good info!
Josh
