Lost Creek Feb 8th
#1
Headed up to Lost Creek this morning to try and figure out what they were biting to make our trip tomorrow a bit more productive.

Caught a whole lot of nuthin! I have to say I am a bit bummed...first skunk of the season.

Roads were great, edges were strong, ice was 14 in thick with 3-4 inches of snow on top. I called a friend at about 630 to see if he wanted to give it a try with me so we didnt get on the ice 'til about 830.

We started on the west side by the steeper cliff looking area. Drilled holes from 15ft out to 70ft. No bites, no fish. Headed a bit further North and drilled holes 12ft-55ft. Again no bites, no fish. We set up the tent at the 12ft holes and could see perfectly down to the bottom. Even spotted a handfull of crawdaddys hangin out on top of the rocks.

I darn near tried everything, as I was trying to figure out a pattern for tomorrow. We tried ratsos, gizzys, tube jigs, pimples, all tipped with earthworms, mealies, or waxworms. Tried pink, glow, white, and orange. Worst luck I've had in a long while. Still had a great time with a good buddy. Wind made it a bit cold at times but other than that it was a beautiful day.

Hope for better luck tomorrow if we end up headin there again.

Doesn't sound too promising fish wise for my trip thursday, but I will probably go any way if nothing more than to start familiarizing myself with a new reservoir.

It is a beautiful place. I really think if given enough time to figure it out, it would be a great place to fish. I used the fish-n-map and tried to fish near any of the rocky structure.

I will definitely head out there again....if not through the ice on a boat. I did see a boat ramp to the east on the map but am unaware if it is functional.

The roads were almost clear on the way home, so you'd have no problem getting up there. We've opted to head to East Canyon in the morning rather than head back to Lost Creek though. Let me know how you do on Thursday if you still make it up there!

Hey if it makes you feel any better the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago.

A couple of guys have gotten real lucky at lost creek but that has been the exception rather than the rule.

East canyon has been the hot spot lately.Good luck wherever you go.

I will post something if i go.
I thought i read that lost creek was a wakeless reservoir, guess that doesn't mean you couldn't launch a boat but if that is the case it makes it that much more appealing to me as a tuber.

I'd be fine with it being wakeless....that just means no skiers or seadooers running around.... launch and just float around is fine with me!

A boat can hold a lot more snacks and refreshments!

The boat ramp if functional but it is very small but works. The fishing up there is great during the summer especially during dusk in the summer when the flies are hatching.
