Hello folks,
I met 4poundonly at the ramp about 10:30a this morning and we headed off. We trolled the trout plants at Hemingway for a bit w/out success so we decided to head to the 33 hole. After arriving we cruised some of the coves and cast the net for shad w/out success before we started chunking some anchovies. After a while we noticed some boats deep up in the Las Vegas wash casting nets, so we decided to cruise up in and see if we couldn't get lucky with the shad. After several casts I netted a 10 inch gizzard shad. Good thing 4poundonly was w/ me or I probably would of filleted it and ate it thinking it was a tilapia. After 25 casts we had about 30 shad in the bucket so we decided to go back after the striper.
We got out of the shallow water and pulled off a point near the 33 hole parking lot. I hooked up with a fat little 1 to 2 lber in no time. 4lbonly got a nice bite then nothing.
We only landed the one striper, but I feel I gained more knowledge in this one trip on Mead that all the previous combined. Being able to net shad was a huge hurdle to overcome.
As a side not, I had a blast fishing w/ 4lbonly and am hoping he'll come along in the future on some of my trips.
What a nice day on the lake,
Mark
