Wyoming hunts and thoughts
#1
Looking back on a 2 day elk hunt and 6 days of deer hunting here in Wyo. I can't help but compare them to Utah.
No I didn't have a tag but went along with friends here in town.
The elk hunt was on the second weekend of the season. With an either sex tag in my friends pocket we drove into a herd of 45 to 50 head.
One good 6 point and 4 spikes in the bunch he shot a big cow. Got to eat it all winter and the horns make a poor soup was his only comment.
Saw a total of one other truck in 2 days and he helped us load the cow [cool]
Six days of deer hunting (actually just afternoons) right outside of town with a friend, his wife, two sons and their wives produced five 4 points and a white tail doe.
Again we only saw a couple of other vehicles other than ours.
It's a refreshing change from the hunts I've been on in Utah not having to putting up with the crowds, ATVs, and weekend warriors.
Most of these areas we hunted were either BLM or private ranches posted Hunter Management areas Hunting by permission only and you get the permission slips off the G&F web site.
In 8 days we never heard another shot. Unbelievable!!!
I'm in heaven [Smile]
I'm officially a resident as of the 21 of Feb. so this year I'll have my own tags.
Looking forward to the up coming walleye fishing and hunting this great state has to offer.
