Southern California Saltwater Report 9/4-10

Southern California Saltwater

Report on September 4, 2003 (Thursday)

Way Up North- Avila
Three boats from Chris's got over 75, 80, and 100 albies respectively.

Up North- Channel Island
Mix of Rockfish with lots of Red Snappers.

LA Area- Catalina Island
A few yellowtail but nothing special. No limits on the calicos either. Water and current condition terrible!

Further South- San Clemente
No big counts.

San Diego- Local and Offshore
Offshore is doing great with tons of albies, skipjack, BFT, etc. Local fishing ranges from decent to zero.

LA Local
The last few days have been the worst all summer. Lousy fishing for the poor 1/2 and 3/4 day boats that don't go to the island. Still Davey's, Newport, and Dana's still doing the best!

Report for September 5, 2003 (Friday)

Way Up North- Avila
Albies caught today too but fewer than yesterday.

Up North- Channel Islands
Mixed bag with lots of snappy Red Snappers.

LA Area- Catalina Island
Good day with quite a few boats catching the yellows in the high teens with good weight average around 20.

Further South- San Clemente
Little info

San Diego- Local and Offshore
Off shore is pretty good since the weather flattened out. BFT, albies, skipjack all in the counts.
Local fishing just about as bad as the South Bay area.

LA Local
Red Snappers and Sculpin are invading the Santa Monica Bay. Generally in the South Bay area the local 1/2 boats are doing ziltch, crummy, lousy, boo boo.

Report for September 10, 2003 (Wednesday)

A new week of reports will start tomorrow. Due to an exhausting 3 days fishing on the local 3/4 day boats my report will be short.

LA Local bite is picking up a bit as is the yellowtail bite at Catalina. Some sporties are getting 20 to 30 fish.

Not much change up in Avila/Monterey or the Channel Islands.

No great changes in either the LA local scene or on the San Diego local or offshore fishing areas.
