Wiperslayer and I fished Deer creek on Friday Aug.29th from 6am to 3pm. We launched at the Island state park marina and fish on the opposite shore line in 25 to 30 foot of water. The water level has really dropped since I was there last and the main ramp is out of the water now. The trees are starting to change color, I'll post a picture if I can. The catching was slow but we did manage to catch 8 walleyes, all 15 inches or smaller, 4 smallmouth, 14 inches and smaller and one 11 inch perch. We were using 3/8 oz jigs and a nightcrawler.
Curtisfish and I fished Starvation on Sunday Aug.31 from 6am until 4pm. We tried several areas and CF picked up a nice walleye and smallmouth but we keep moving until we found a spot that the catching was steady. We were fishing in 8 to 11 foot of water and every time we made a drift
through we both caught or missed at least one or more walleye each. The jig and nightcrawler was the hot ticket again and we ended the day with 14 walleye but it seemed like more, 4 smallmouth and a perch. It was a great day on the water but all good things must come to an end. I would like to give a big thank you to Curtisfish for making it such a fine day, even though we had a few problems he did not give up and did a great job of getting us on the fish.
I tried to get a few guys to go with me to Jordanelle on Monday Sept.1 but no one wanted to brave the weekend crowds. That should have been a clue but I had to go and fish the third lake for the weekend. I was hoping to catch one of those monster smallmouth and I did end up with
one 17in. smally and a few perch. When I arrived at 6am people were already getting on the water to ski but it wasn't bad until 8am. I caught no more fish after 8am but I keep at it until 12 noon, that was all I could take, so I fought the mass of boats to the ramp and I was out of
there. It wasn't the best way to end the weekend but hey, three lakes in four days, maybe I was pushing it, ...NOT. WH2
