Just a quick note on Salmon, got up there late Friday water was fishable but the Lemhi was dumping alot of mud in the river, fished for about 30 minutes Friday and caught nothing heard of a few being caught. Saturday fished above Lemhi and the water was perfect color for steelies but I didnt catch any seen a couple being caught, Sunday same story Saw 2 caught but I had no luck.... In 15 years of steelheadin only been skunked 3 or 4 times guess we'll chalk this up for another time. Weather was pretty good but the pressure peaked about 7 am both days and fell from there both days!
Not very many people around town was kind of surprised about that.

Hit the Salmon river between ellis and salmon past weekend. Didnt touch a steelhead! Didnt talk to anyone that did. Girlfriend and I banked some nice suckers and trout though lol. For her first trip she did purdy good on hookin trout and suckers. Now we just need to get up there when the fishing is good and she should put some fish on the bank lol How did everyone do this weekend? Dont think im goin to hit the canyon this year if its packed.

We fished between North Fork and Salmon this weekend and got 1 keeper each day. Was very slow. Should be better this weekend I am hoping.

fished above shoup all weekend and the water was pretty crapy. When we came home sunday it started to clean up some, but that can change on a daily basis. I think if it stays warm and they get storms up there it might look crapy for i will but cant tell u guys for sure just opinion

I agree with ya 100% bud. I have been planning on a (below Shoup) trip this coming weekend, and it seems like if it isn't the warm weather mudding it up, it's the storms. The moisture is relentless this year!! Anyway, I need to make my decision to go or not by 5PM Friday, so any up-to-the-minute water color reports will certainly be appreciated. Thanks to all for the great reports thus far, and good luck everybody.

No matter what "Report" you hear, you may as well just get up there and try. Unless you are only going to make one trip, then you might want to wait for clearer weather. I hear reports everyday from lots of different people that were there and it was great. Then the next guy says he was in the same place and it sucked. Basically if you can go you may as well. Also I did talk to one group of guys that fished the narrows and even though the water was muddy they still hooked into a bunch of fish. Remember this is one of those "Reports", but if it true then it just goes to show the fish are still there and willing to hit despite water conditions. Again, if it is a once a year kind of trip you might hold out for a good report, otherwise I would get up there every chance I got. Good luck if you do get up there.

I'm in the same boat.
Hitting the road tomorrow afternoon and I'm not sure where I'm going. If the clearwater & little salmon are muddy my best bet is going to be Challis, Salmon, Shoup. That or hit CJ and go for Sturgeon until steelhead gets hot again.

If I want to fish I go despite what others say or what the water conditions are. If the waters high and muddy learn to play in the mud, the fish don't leave their holding patterns just change. You can either be the guy making the hot fishing report or the guy thats listening to "you should have been here yesterday."

I was supposed to go after steelhead with a group of guys last night. But I had to cancel out because our 6 month old granddaughter was having an MRI today to find out if she has a brain tumor. Thank goodness the test results came back with good news. The doctor was very surprised but everything appears to be ok. Maybe I can get out and do something tomorrow or Saturday.

Glad to hear everything is ok. That explains why your trailer is still in the driveway.

I don't know if they are camping in tents or took an enclosed trailer to sleep in. I'm sure they are having fun.
