Fished the SF again and did well on the browns. Fished the same spot most of the time and ended up catching four. LIke I said, I'm still rusty and missed a bunch of hits (over a dozen) again. Threw a black bugger the whole time. Seemed to do the trick.

Maybe it is just the angle or background. They seem a bit skinney like they aren't getting enough to eat?
Good job getting out. I have started tying flies and getting ready. Now I just need to get out.

They were definitely on the skinny side. ONe of them had a nice sized head and then his body shrunk down real little. On a side note, I could see a lot of the fish and there were some nice fat ones swimming around. A lot of nice sized cutts actually.

I just bought a house in ririe and have been out twice this last week fly fishing. i was using a brown rubber legs with a beadhead prince or pheasant tail dropper and caught tons of whitefish but never did get a trout of any kind what are some tips that could get some trout to hit?

I am not a fly fisherman so I can't help you there , But have you ever tasted smoked Whitefish . It tastes better than Trout . It's not as oily . Hoppkins in Blackfoot will Smoke them for you at a very reasonable price . Curt G.

I throw streamers like a wooly bugger and fish deeper holes (opposed to riffles). I can catch a ton of whitefish but I have caught so many that I fish with stuff they usually dont hit. Also I have been doing a lot of sight fishing and finding the trout vs the whitefish. Sight nymphing for trout has been good lately as well.

do you use sinking line then? and do you use a strike indicator when you fish deep holes? i drove around and tried to get familiar with the wolf flats area and it all looked really good to me but i haven't tried fishing any of it yet.
