Bear Lake Fishing Report:

The majority of Bear Lake is now ice free. The only remaining ice is near the very south end of the lake and it is no longer advisable to ice fish at this time. Boat launching is available at the Utah State Park marina, and the east side boat ramps at First Point, Rainbow Cove and Cisco Beach. Boat ramps are totally clear of ice and snow at this time and courtesy docks have been installed at all locations except First Point. Boat anglers are using tube jigs and jigging spoons tipped with cisco and jigged right on the bottom in about 60-70’ of water for cutthroat trout and lake trout. Fishing has been fair off Gus Rich Point and along Cisco Beach. Boat anglers who are trolling are doing much better and report good catches of cutthroat and lake trout using spoons and small (#7) Rapalas off Gus Rich Point, 2nd Point and Cisco Beach. There has been very little pressure along the west side of the lake near Swan Creek. The mouths of the tributary streams will remain open to fishing until April 15th after which they will be closed to fishing.

There are a few inches of snow along the east side of the lake at this time and about 12” or more snow along the west side of the lake on the shore. Paved roads are totally clear.

Laketown Reservoir:
Ice is about 8” thick and the shoreline areas are still frozen. You need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to access the reservoir at this time, and fishing has been good for rainbow trout using small jigs, Swedish pimples and flys (damels patterns). Try tipping your lure a meal or wax worm. Please keep this area clean since there are no trash cans in the area. Please pack in what you pack out or we may lose the opportunity to fish this body of water.
