West Magic Resort updated its report today, announcing that the reservoir is between 90 and 95% full, and that the only ice that can be found is in their bar! The docks were put in yesterday, and for the bank fishermen, the banks are firm and cars can be taken right up to the water. The canal company is not taking any water yet. Sounds like it's time to pay a visit to those shrimp-eating rainbows and browns. Some of the tastiest, hardest-fighting trout in the Gem State!

West Side reported that there had been very few boats out and due to the ice just disappearing recently, no reports at all. I do know that they were hammering big fish at Hot Springs until the river started spewing mud. Mike

I was out trolling last thursday, caught just one Rainbow about 12" on a woolybugger, we trolled for about 5 hrs pulling Rapalas and woolybuggers.
Water temps are between 38 & 40,, and it is very murky water. I doubt i will go back there for at least a couple weeks.

Thanks for the report, Deshka. I can remember last year going over in early May and limiting easily. Maybe the water will clear up and warm up by then. Again, thanks, and give us a report if you head back over in a few weeks. Mike

I have been fishing it from the bank for the past 2 weeks and have been catching some pretty nice bows from 15-20" but it is pretty stained up by Lava Point and upstream but still pretty clear at Myrtle Point and down by the dam. Water is rising faast, maybe 12-18" per day, it's gonna spill over the spillway this year for sure

Man no kidding last May was a hoot, seemed like the surface temps were about 48 and the water was fairly clear though.
I will be keeping a close eye on conditions and will post up my findings.
Is anybody going to fish the trolling derby in April??
Pretty good time and decent payouts as well.
We took second last year, lost first by 5 ounces, i never boated a keeper that day [blush] my buddies slayed em though.

Hi Kodiak1
I have a 12' boat set up up for anytype of fishing(well maybe not deep sea)
I want to fish Magic....can you tell me what rigs/bait to use and a general area that you like to fish in?
Should I use the boat otr fish from the bank?
I have an RV and I'm thinking of going up there from Meridian for a couple of days then maybe over to Anderson for some bass (might be to early)
Thank You for your thoughts.
