Fished CJ on 4/10 with 4 other guys who are longtime Crappie and Bass fishermen. Fishing the whole day produced a total of 10 crappie and 2 perch.
The water is still cold (my fish finder showed 46 degrees when we started). We were in huge schools of crappie, but they just were not biting. The guy who caught the most was using bait on a hook.
I tried six different tried and true crappie spots. Seems like the fish are in a different spot each year.
There were around 50 boats in the same general area we were in. We saw a few boats catching about the same amount of crappie we were, and talked to quite a few others who had not had a single fish.
Some folks who were targeting perch said that they had caught 6 perch.
The reservoir was calm and the weather was pretty decent.
