EARLY SPRING FISHING
#1
April 14, 2011
Today we headed to the Gulfstream with Jimmy Tembleton, James Templeton, Kevin Meomman, Caleb Meomman, and Nathan Meomman from Elkin,WV.
[#000080][#000080]We stopped on the South end of the Black Jack where we found clean cobalt blue water, a good temperature of 72 to 74 degrees and was marking fish anywhere from 80 to 150 feet and in between.[/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]Capt Chris deployed the lines and I was sure it was going to be the day that it all came together, especially when just shortly after starting a big fish, we figured was a Wahoo slammed the port rod and screamed off 100 yards then cut us off.[/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]Something about those Pink Pirate Plug Deep 6's that drive wahoo, tuna, and other fish wild, unfortunately, he took the last one we had. Maybe that's why the bite stopped, could be!![/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]Unfortunately, that was it for us until later when Caleb caught his first Mahi Mahi. It was a slow day considering the conditions and all the boats were talking on the radio with having the same results with the wahoo.[/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]With the bite being slow, I finally left a great looking stream and went to the bottom with bait and Eastern Tackle's jigging spoons.
Here things were a little different. The near extinct huge knot head Black Bass, were attacking the baits two at a time as fast as you got it down. Of course, they have to be released until June 1st.[/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]Jigging, the Amber Jacks and Blackfin Tuna were attacking the jigs and the Big sharks were attacking everything!!! What a vicious world it is in the sea, it's either eat or be eaten out there!!!![/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]James Tembleton is pictured here with his big Sand tiger that we released. Check out that set of dentures. James was so tired after the long battle with the fish taking him around the boat several times, just how tired was he? A thumbs up and a grin at the same time was hard to get out!!![/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]All in all we had a good day of fishing and even though we stuck to the slow bite in the stream longer that normal due to the fact conditions looked nearly perfect, Caleb's Mahi, James's Shark, Kevin, Jimmy, and Nathan all pitched in to prove that there are some fish to be caught for the table even with all the closures and the finishing touches on the bottom made it all come together quite nicely!![/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]So, Thanks for stopping by, we appreciate you taking the time to stop by and remember this: If you're too busy to go fishin', then you're just too busy!! God Bless You All!!![/#000080][/#000080]
[#000080][#000080]Fish On!!!![/#000080][/#000080]
