Lake Trout in Community Fisheries??
#1
With the less than desireable weather we've been having its left plenty of time to look at stocking reports and read articles. The 2011 stocking report has a few community fisheries being stocked with lake trout. Is this legit?? I've only been to them once or twice, but the ones I've seen don't seem to be a lake trout lake. Just wondering if anyone has indeed caught a lake trout from a community fishery?

Yes, they plant the old brood stock in the community fisheries so that they can be caught and eaten. With many of their fins missing they are not the pristine looking fish that you may be picturing in your mind, but they are at least of good size.

It is true, I caught two or three over 26" mark,Many more around 20-24" No fins is an understatement. LOL! They looked like snakes but still fun to catch out of the little ponds. All where released to be caught again but it didn't last long about 4 weeks and I haven't caught another one since.
