Echo Report 4/23
#1
Big thanks to jakegonefishin & TheWhizzle for the tips on hitting the stripers. We launched out of Echo on Thursday 4/23 and drove north roughly two miles till we hit murky water. We turned into a cove and found seagulls and birds diving and stripers boiling right near the shore. My 6 year old and my father in law instantly hooked up at the same time and then it was on. The next hour and a half we caught stripers on nearly every cast. Non-stop action and then then it simmered down. Spectacular fishing conditions and we waitied for the wind, but it didnt come till after we left at 5pm. We caught a few smallies, but we caught somewhere between 30-40 stripers. We had bait, but they were hitting every kind of crankbait we could throw so we didnt bother with the chovies till they slowed down, then they would hit the anchovies. Thanks for the local tips, it made the $69 out of state fishing license worth it. I will be back, but not till June. Thanks for the great fishing and help guys! Lake Mead is great!

I thought the chopper was going to crash, but it appeared they were training. They would just get real close to the water then fly away and return and do the same thing. Biggest fish was pushing 3-4 pounds. All the fish did look healthier than the fish I caught at Powell two weeks ago, plus the three we took for dinner had shad in them. The Lake Powell fish were skinny.
