Powell April 27-30
#1
We headed south to Lake Powell last week. After a minor distraction for some open water at Panguitch and a few bows we arrived and launched out of Antelope Point. The fishing was pretty good. Not as fast and furious as it has been for me the past couple of years down there during this week. I think the water temps are a week or two behind where they're usually at with the late spring.

We ran into Pez Vela at the marina and he was kind enough to point us in the direction of some stripers. They were your standard 2-3 pounders. I eventually hooked into one that felt a lot bigger. I was getting pretty excited as I was bringing it up because I knew it was going to be a good one. I turned out to be a 6 pound carpSad fun fighter though. We caught them on anchovies for a few hours until we grew tired of battling the wind on Friday which was terrible.

I went down for the bass though. I could hardly find a LM on a nest to save my life. Only hooked into one that came off then promptly went back to guarding his nest. We caught a lot of stripers, plenty of smallies, a bunch of crappies, a few walleye, and a 2 lb gizzard shad.

Overall it was a great trip.
