SunnySide (Haymeadow) 05/07
#1
Made it to Haymeadow on Sat. Left the door at 3:30 am and was on the water by 6:30 am. Very slow starting out, no fish until around 9 am when i landed my first LMB fishing the shallows with a curly tail worm. The wind picked up to around 25 mph and made fishing a little rough. After a another hour of frustration with some very spooky bass I decided it was time to go for the trout. Over the 3 hours I caught about 20 on a silver lure, the ONLY lure that was working all day. It is now my lucky lure [cool]. Most were recent stockers and a few were hold overs. I will post pics this afternoon when i download them to my PC. I didnt see many other people catching fish and by noon most people had left.

There were about 15 other boaters on the water, a lot of fishing pressure. The park rangers camped out at the dock and checked everyone coming off the water for license. So if u ever head up there make sure your legal cause he was ticket happy!

On the way out we stopped by Adam - Magil Res and walked the dam. There were a LOT of nice bass sitting on the shoreline in the shallows. One monster easily topped 7 lbs, actually thought he was a carp at first because of his girth. He was a toad! I tried my luck at him but I made a classic Bud Light fueled cast right into a nearby bush and scared him away....go figure.

All in all a fun day, felt bad for my buddy that went with me though. He only caught one fish all day...he didnt have the lucky lure lol.

All fish were released to be caught again another day.

BillyH,

I used to have an old timer tell me that the fish are always biting at either Haymeadow or Cold Springs. He said it was easy to tell which one was hitting, cuz it had to be the one you weren't on Smile.

Glad you got into some of those guys. Little or not 20 fish is 20 fish. It is amazing how keyed into a food item trout can get. But that's a good thing, cuz once you figure out what it is..... it's on.

I'm glad you got into some trout, and if your buddy is anything like me, then I'll bet he had a good outing too.

I'll try'n head back up there soon before it gets too hot, maybe we can go together.

Later,

Okay guys sorry for the delay....here are some pics.

Telbone anytime you want to hit the water on a weekend let me know. I tend to get out at least twice a month and now that its starting to warm up I'll be hitting Eagle, Echo or Sunnyside at least once a month for a day trip to escape the heat.
