Hello BFT
Now as to not offend anyone the title is in-fact a fly I used to fish with.
It was Called a Moron Girl and a lady in utah used to tie them.
They were sort of a elk hair caddis with a redish butt.
I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of them or happpend to have pictures.
I have been trying to recreate them for the longest $#%^ time and cant get it.
Any and all help is very hepful.

It is a very nice fly and works well on streams when the little yellow sally stoneflies are around. I like it fished dry, and it is usually hit when it starts to skate across the surface a little as the females do.
It imitates an egg laying female. The red butt is the egg sack.
Keep it light and lots of hackle or it is hard to keep afloat, but just under does pretty good too. More fun on top though. I think it would be good to use cdc for the wing, but I haven't tried it.

The thing I find interesting, is that this fly is usually listed as a WET fly. I don't think it was ever intended to really be a wet fly. It is frequently tied with the wings swept back, so it is MISTAKEN for a wet fly. Maybe I am wrong, but in my opinion (I have LOTS of opinions!!) the Mormon Girl or Yellow Sally flie were designed to be fished on top. They seem to do so much better. So use a good dry fly hackle and skitter it across the water. You'll be glad you did!

I believe the moniker was given to it because the fly is 'heavily dressed.'

There is a picture of the wet version in each of these links. The dry isn't much different just more hackle and use more buoyant materials on the body.

There is no picture of a dry on this link, but it does give the materials or recipe.
